Hello fellow pickleball enthusiasts!
We are thrilled to announce a major upcoming event for our local pickleball community: The APP Tour is making a stop in Salt Lake City! This prestigious series of professional pickleball tournaments will be held from July 25 to July 29, 2023. The inclusion of Salt Lake City on their tour route is a testament to the growth and vibrancy of our local pickleball scene.
The tournament will take place at both Club Pickleball USA clubs in Orem and Sandy. These indoor venues feature hardcourt surfaces, permanent nets, and ample space for competitive play with 25 courts combined between the two locations, which are a 30 minute drive between them. The choice of these top-tier facilities demonstrates the seriousness and professionalism of this event.
We're particularly excited because our very own Boydston Pickleball Academy Coaches will be competing in the pro division. They'll be showcasing their skills in Men's, Women's, and Mixed Doubles. This is an excellent opportunity to come out and support our local talent as they compete at a high level.
This APP Tour event promises an exciting Gold Medal Match Day for PRO events. All professional players are required to familiarize themselves with the rules and regulations regarding registration, entry, draw sizes, formats, and other competition information.
Amateur players, too, have a chance to show off their skills. A singles player or a doubles team can register and compete, subject to certain regulations. Notably, players may only play in one event per day, and bracket spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
All players, amateur and professional alike, must have a current USAP Membership, and this number MUST be included in your player profile. The tournament aims to provide a referee on every court for an enhanced player experience.
Registration is open until July 15, 2023. A cancellation deadline has been set for June 27, 2023. Those who withdraw before this date will receive a full refund, minus a $25 cancellation fee.
While APP events are typically outdoor events, this tournament will take place indoors, eliminating concerns about inclement weather. However, a Registration & Weather Insurance Policy is available for purchase during registration for those who wish to have additional coverage.
